I just have to post something about Liam Fox. Like most people I assumed he was having a relationship with Werrity and that may or may not be the case. I don't really care who he has a relationship with. I do however care that he is the Secretary of Defence and therefore I expect him to behave with a certain amount of intelligence, dignity and probity.

This he has signally failed to do on many,many, grounds which I'll now set out.

If he is having an affair with Werrity then the convoluted private life he appears to have constructed is either a sham, done with his wife's knowledge or he is cheating on her. That he would feel the need to do either should disqualify him from Parliament because in this day and age anyone who is gay can be open about it. There are many openly gay MP's and there are even more who have been "outed" and who still have a political career. What's the big deal. By showing himself to be concerned by this single aspect of himself he has demonstrated very poor judgement and provided foreign powers with something that could be used to influence his decision making.

He has allowed someone who is completely outside government to "cloak" himself with authority that in truth he does not possess. This is a real problem. many who met Werrity said they assumed Werrity was "official". That means Werrity could have contacted foreign agents and obtained benefits or exerted some influence. This is a legal issue. Once "cloaked in authority" any action by Werrity would have serious implications for the Government if as a result of this cloaking some action were taken that later proved illegal/dangerous/stupid.

He granted Werrity access to some of the most powerful people in the country. Werrity was apparently made a member of the Carlton Club. He had access to MPs'. He had access to Government departments. It seems that everyone assumed he was official. He was not. He is Liam's mate. If you worked at the checkout in Tesco and you "lent" a "mate" a uniform and then allowed him to use the staff canteen, visit backroom areas and go on a staff outing to legoland you'd get sacked. You might even be charged with an offence. How is this any different?

Finally, today we hear that a secret cadre of "sympathetic" businessmen funded Werrity. Apparently Werrity was Liam's Praetorian Guard/Cheerleader. Liam was afraid that he would be blocked by the entrenched civil servants in his own department. Liam is a Eurosceptic, Israeli advocate who loves America. Sweet Jesus how bad can this get? Seen at it's worst it looks like a secret group of shadowy individuals funded a rent boy who is then feted by one of the most sensitive and important of Cabinet Ministers. The other alternative is a secret group intent on forwarding their own agenda using a gullible and trusting fool. Wherever the truth lies the damage to Government and the credibility of the Tories is massive.

Is Cameron stupid or does he have some other reason for standing by this inept, incautious and moronic Cabinet Member?

Time for Liam to do us all a favour and resign. I do not feel safe having someone with his propensity for banana skins in charge of the armed forces. How the hell did someone this stupid get into Government? He somehow had it all and he has thrown it all away.

There should be an enquiry. We should get rid of Fox. Find out who these secretive funders were and charge them all with Treason. Tighten up the rules and demand that every politician disclose their beliefs, their character and their sexuality. If you let the private seep into the public then it must be a two way street.

Censorship has always existed. In the UK, because of the cosy relationship between government and the media all that was needed before was a quiet word with the editor or owner.

These days there's information everywhere so it's more difficult to control access to it. But the government is fighting back. They want a return to the good old days when they could control what we see or read.

They're trying to control Twitter and it looks like they already have "co-operation" from Google/YouTube. YouTube removes videos when asked to do so by the Government. Look here.

How long before they start to filter our search results. How long before they regain control to such an extent that we will be denied the information that we need in order to be intelligent participators in democracy instead of ignorant zombie sheeple meekly obeying our "masters". This is an important principle and I hope that when the time comes where we have to stand up for our rights you'll remember how the crackdown started.
